Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)

At Robert Miles Junior School we are committed to offering an inclusive curriculum to ensure the best possible progress for all of our pupils whatever their needs or abilities. Our aim is to create an atmosphere of inclusion, encouragement, respect and sensitivity. One of our school’s core values is Equality and this extends to all pupils, whatever their needs. The inclusion of pupils identified as having special educational needs and disability (SEND) in our school community is integral to the diversity and richness of our school.

We seek to support all our families and pupils. Our SENCO, Mrs Carol Ward, who is also a behaviour specialist, offers support for families and pupils with many issues including: sleeping issues, difficulties in dealing with challenging behaviour at home, advice on how to improve relationships between siblings when one child has a diagnosis or particular area of need, support and delivery of 1:1 programmes focusing on anger management, anxiety, improving self-esteem and play therapy alongside offering support around educational needs. If you have any questions or need any help at all, please do not hesitate to contact Mrs Ward, she will be happy to help with any issues, big or small.
