We have a brand new orchard in our school grounds thanks to energy and waste management company Veolia. Last summer Veolia, in partnership with the community action charity Groundwork launched a campaign to help schools increase their biodiversity and join a national network of mini orchards. We applied to be part of this project and were fortunate enough to be chosen as one of the 100 schools across the country to receive 5 trees – three varieties of apples, a pear tree and a plum tree. These were planted in the nature area by the old oak tree, near our existing plum tree.
Children at Robert Miles Juniors many years in the future will be able to enjoy the fruits from our new orchard so a big thank you to Veolia for their kind donation.
